Innovators & Iconoclasts

Companies that are successful innovators and which are able to sustain innovation over time are the ones that create a culture in which innovation can happen at any level at any time. They create a Culture of Innovation.

"An entrepreneur is someone who dares to dream the dreams and is foolish enough to try to make those dreams come true" - Vinod Khosia, founder Sun Mircosystems and venture capitalist

Paul Saffo of the Institute for the Future says managing innovation “…means cultivating an environment where lightning can strike twice.” So how does a company do this?

What these successful companies discover is that they need to embrace the act of attacking their cherished beliefs and traditional ways of doing things in order to take their products, services and customers to the next level. Saffo says, “Failure is the foundation of innovation”.

In this episode we’ll look at how some companies have gone about creating such a culture and look at some of the pitfalls facing young organizations as they seek to grow and mature.

What a great program of inspiration for people to look within themselves at there own ideas of innovation, and for those who are starting out in a business venture but not really sure if they should take the chance, looking forward to the next show.

Great show. I actually caught it by accident. I never watch CNBC and missed part of it. Glad its online.

Finally someone else who says Google is not innovative. They created a search engine years ago and they have a great place to work. They have enormous potential but where's the newness?

I am in the catering business so regular tv watching is difficult. I just saw the March 4th show as I make a point to see CNBC on Sunday nights whenever possible. I cannot stop thinking about last nights show.
Talk about energy. BRAVO!!!!.
You nailed it.
Good luck in the future.

BTW, I should disagree with "failure is the foundation to innovation". I guess going by the principle of first things first -- a few ingredients like trying new things, thinking different should be in the core of the org along with the others that were pointed out in the episode, innovation then naturally happens as a by-product of this.
